Customs Brokers Course

Rationale

The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. is accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework to deliver 11 units of competency from the Transport and Logistics Training Package, and known as the National Customs Brokers Course (NCBC).  This program is approved by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service as the pre-requisite course of study for persons intending to become licensed as customs brokers in Australia.

The NCBC is an internet-based course that utilises leading edge technology to engage students through the use of virtual classrooms where students can "attend" classes regularly to interact with their facilitator and with each other, all in real time from wherever they may be located within Australia, or around the World.

Nationally recognised qualification

Note that the eleven units of the NCBC are imbedded within the Certificate IV in International Freight Forwarding. Students can either complete:

  • just the eleven units of study in the NCBC; or
  • add some additional units to complete a full national qualification (Certificate IV).

The time to complete the course does not vary regardless of which option is chosen. The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Customs) will accept the eleven units of the NCBC as the "approved course of study" for those persons seeking licensing. Completion of the Certificate IV is not mandated by Customs.
